55*10=550
55*8=440
440-550=990
1200-990=210
210/35=6

55 marigolds at the rate of $8 = 55 * 8 = $440
55 ixoras at the rate of $10 = 55*10 = $550
Add both totals: 440 + 550 = 990
Reduce this from the Total $1200 - 990 = 210
Now divide 35 from this.
210/35 = 6
They should charge $6 each for the petunias.
